DfE Launch AI Tool to Tackle School Absence

The Department for Education (DfE) has introduced a new AI-powered tool to help schools in England benchmark their pupil attendance against similar institutions.

This innovative tool leverages artificial intelligence to analyse the DfE’s datasets, identifying 20 schools with comparable characteristics, such as pupil demographics and location, for each participating school. By doing so, it provides a more nuanced understanding of attendance patterns, enabling schools to compare their performance with peers facing similar challenges.

The initiative is part of the DfE’s broader efforts to support developments in AI educational technology. By offering tailored insights, the tool aims to assist schools in identifying areas for improvement and implementing targeted strategies to enhance pupil attendance.
